It is 4 a.m. in Germany and I've actually been awake since 3 a.m. This thing called jetlag is a real bitch. Last time I thought I nailed it, I took a sleeping tablet the first night, slept straight through from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. and was up all day. Guess what, the next night I was up again at 4 a.m. Just like today. It's so strange. Anyways, I guess it's a good chance to blog a little bit. So let's see... since my head feels a little mushy, I think I'm just going to write down some bullet points about things that happened since I boarded the plane on Friday in SFO. So here goes...
- I was on a brandnew Lufthansa Airbus going from SFO straight to Munich, quite a pleasant experience
- 11 hour flights are loooong even when you are knocked out by a sleeping tablet for 7 hours
- Seemingly stuck up and unfriendly Germans can turn out to be really nice when you make an effort. Hans-Christopher from Duesseldorf turned out to be a friendly dad of three sons who even offered me the fruit from his much better looking low-calorie special meal
- I got picked up by T and I am sooooooo happy
- BMWs speed up to 180 km/h in no time and you don't even feel it. I LOVE the German Autobahn
- It's been perfect weather. Slightly cloudy and 22C that actually feel hot to me. Makes me realize how cold San Francisco actually is.
- It felt especially hot yesterday when we climbed outside Augsburg's climbing gym in the sun. Damn, and those routes were hard!!!! What's up with the ratings in San Francisco? 5.7 feels like a 5.10a here!
- As a result I'm not only jet lagged, but my whole body is hurting right now, including a brand new bruise on my right knee :-)
- You can hear tons of birds sing in Germany
- Leather pants are hot ... both ways ;-)
- Rode T's motorcycle yesterday, so much fun!!
- Went to the beergarden with T's best friend and his wife. He was the guy who introduced T to me in December. He talks a lot even when he isn't drunk :-) ... AND he buys almost everything he needs on eBay and never fails to describe in length how much money he saved in the process, hehehe, a Schwabe
- He also lent me his leather pants. It is true that you can't wash leather pants, right??? Ummmmmmm......
- I had strawberries for breakfast, for coffee, and at the climbing gym
- Wurstsalat and bayrisches Bier rock!
- I'm hungry, and still not tired. Wtf????
Going to find something to eat now...
Have a great evening in California and wherever you read me!
