San Francisco

What a trip!!! Literally ... It's been a whirlwind so far and it has been great. Let's see what all T and I have managed to squeeze in so far:
- Sleep two nights at the really cool W Hotel (thanks N!!)
- Hang out in the Mission, especially at Zeitgeist beergarden, the Casanova (my favorite neigborhood bar), Dolores Park (on Easter Sunday, with the Hunky Jesus contest)
- Met baby Max
- Hung out with friends and ate at Sunflower, Sushi Zone, Park Chow, Cancun Taqueria and Abacus
- Had more drinks at Toronado
- Went climbing at Mission Cliffs
- Rode the Cable Car, which I had never done before (really!)
- Had drinks at Bourbon and Branch, which were amazing

and and and...

There's always so much to do and see in San Francisco, it really never gets boring. Tomorrow we are going to have drinks with my co-workers from back then. I can't wait to see everyone.

Happy Birthday Tobse!

I'm only posting this because I'm so proud to report that my first ever chocolate cake made from scratch was amazing!! Thanks to the awesome recipe from Kochbanausen. I'm glad I only made it today since Tobse's friend made another one for the party last night. Hence, there was no competition, but I would have won, he he :)! I used a Pumuckl for decoration after all :). Here are some pictures.
 

Happy Birthday Tobse!

On March 1st we celebrated Tobse's birthday at Altstadtkneipe Striese. Adi, the owner, did a fantastic job  setting up the area in front of the stage and preparing some great antipasti for us. We killed two beer kegs and ended up partying to the songs of Silvertown. Then we moved on to Mahagoni Bar (the famous place where Tobse and I met about 14 months ago ;-) ) and continued drinking and partying until 4:30 a.m. Needless to say that there was too much alcohol involved and the next day was spent nursing a huge hangover, but it was all worth it :). So many events, so little time...

In the past 4 days I went through:

... one awful day at work. Really really awful - hopefully won't happen so soon again, hopefully never
... one amazing dinner at Oola. Baby back ribs, scallops, breadpudding - must have
... one good dinner. Good conversation, good food - too expensive
... the new James Bond movie. Great one-liners - very hot girl
... a musikalischer brunch with my best friend. Klezmer music - hot drummer
... Landjaeger. Vorspeise fuer Germany - senfig gut!!!
... one great mix CD. TG - thanks!

Thanksgiving at Christine's

Here are some impressions from my first real Thanksgiving with a proper Turkey (22 lbs!!!). Thanks for inviting me over Christine -- I definitely haven't eaten that much in a long time. You are a fabulous cook!

What an awesome day ... probably my best work day ever ... like, ..., EVER :-)

Allison is a true soulmate - I can't believe how many times we said "me too" tonight. Anyways, if you ever land up in Waikiki, go to Dukes and make sure you sit at the bar. We had a blast ... Jessie, the bartender had a "little boys syndrom" as he put it (of course he just wanted to make himself sound more interesting ... instead of saying that he really digged Allison because of her short hair cut), and he and Allison had a really interesting little flirt going on. I was talking to the guy next to us, who actually walked into Allison's and my poloraid photograph, and finally there was this really cute little hottie with a Abercrombie T-shirt who was too cool for school and was just SO sure of himself that he'd score. So much fun to just turn around and leave ... he was cute, but you know, lately -- I really believe I want to wait for something special ;-) ... *sigh* ... (ok, I won't mention that I bought a damn expensive Ed Hardy shirt tonight that says "love kills slowly" :-) ) .......

I hope I'm making sense... it's really not my fault ... it's Mai Tais, Daiquiris, Pina Coladas and Jessie's Special's fault. I swear. Ask Allison.

Congrats Laura & Jason!

May you have a happy life together!! Yesterday Laura and Jason got married on a boat in San Francisco. The boat took off at Pier 40, at around  1:45 p.m. with 30 people on board. It was a picture perfect sunny day, and the bride looked georgeous (the groom did too of course ;-) ).

The captain married them at around two and then the party started! Well, first of all: Congratulations!!!! And thanks for an awesome day and an awesome party! After the boat trip we went for the reception in Hotel Vitale's penthouse suite. It was just incredible! We partied until 12 a.m. in movie-star-like manner, with a breathtaking view over the bay bridge. Here are some pictures of the wedding party location:

Oh, and thanks for the little give-away (is there a special name for wedding "souvenirs?")! Haven't listened to such cool groovy music in a long time.
